LITTLEBRUTALRAVEBASTARDS

Vol. II

LP, Dhyana

Ohmigod, my eardrums started bleeding a while ago and now I notice that I am growing a strange, itching rash all over the lefthandside of my body. It is the work of the devil for sure. Hallelujah, the devil cometh under a lot of names, bidol cath, rgyeue df or leprozid pfarrhaus among others. The devil is out to destroy dancefloors and techno-heads around the world, so watch out, because he is a hungry man.

Italodisco. Bootmixes. Loveparades. Mega-Raves. Drugs. State of the art technology and enormous sound-systems. Dancefloors. Darkrooms. Techno-clubs in Berlin and the world over. Jean Bach destroys them all. He put the little tag of “over the edge dancemusic for non-existing dancefloors” on this record and actually I could stop now, because what else is there to say. Most of these tracks are basically one harsh beat with some sounds mixed in. No, the average Cologne-Minimal-Music-fan won’t like that, because it is way to upfront and obnoxious. There are no tiny details and beautiful sounds and atmospheres. This is like a fist in your face. Again and again at about 100 bpm. Imagine what the equivalent of punk mixed with death-metal would be in electronic music or rather techno, and you got it. Anyway, I want a littlebrutalravebastards-truck at the next love-parade. I’d like to see the kind of girls that show their titties to that stuff. (Aside: a friend told me that there is a new trend in internet-porn: drunken women. As he said, they are all deranged, sipping from bottles of booze and the underlying assumption is that drunken women are doing stuff they wouldn’t be doing otherwise. Strange. I usually stay atop of the trends in internetporn via the junkmail-folder in my hotmail account and I would have said that the latest fads are incest and Brittney Spears. Anyway, that is a fine subject to talk about among friends, isn’t it?)

Later on on this slap of vinyl you’ll get some harsh noises and other stuff – well if song is called “mein bruder war beim kirchentag mix (fuck merzbow: fuck wumpscut: fuck noisex/dfk)” you know what to expect – but the music stays the same fucker it is. This might be the only techno-beats I listen to and I am never sure if I like this or not. Because sometimes these beats just grab me and I find myself bobbing my head along to them. Then I get a headache and I feel like turning it off. Luckily the second side offers more variety, so if I make it there I’ll get through the whole thing. Steel-percussions mingle between driving beats. Pure sounds of destruction and noise-explosions move like japanese monsters through your ears and brains. Some gay organisations will call that anti-gay again, because most of these tracks will erase people from the dancefloors and darkrooms wherever this is played. I don’t care. This is making me more nervous and feeling strange by the minute. Some really distorted beats with crackling noises all around them. Endless repetitions with only minimal variations. Remember when we were young and tried to find the most extreme music possible. (Then Merzbow and US Maple came along.) That were fun years. Am I too old for this? Or is it that I am hard pushed to find the beauty in these machine-like sounds? Am I a Weichei? As I heard even the record-plant started to rearrange and doubt their high-end-machines while listening to this. And maybe that is what I like about it. This dude doesn’t search for extremes in the speed of the beats or in a wall of sound but rather falls for the beauty of harsh beats and what they can do to you. There is a depth in these beats you won’t find in a lot of other places, except in a small livingroom where a computer and some amps are installed. Don’t ever take me there.
